Led by researchers affiliated with the Digital Journalism Research Group at Oslo Metropolitan University, in collaboration with experts from the University of Minnesota, Kristiania University College, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the US, the SCAM project aims to develop principles and practices of digital source criticism and media and information literacy.
Special emphasis is placed on the detection and countering of disinformation in light of emerging technologies.
At the conference, we will present the latest research outputs and achievements of the SCAM project. We are privileged to feature two keynote addresses from distinguished researchers and practitioners in the fact-checking industry:
- Will Moy - Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Campbell Collaboration and former CEO of the British fact-checking organization Full Fact.
- Lucas Graves - Professor at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a member of the SCAM project.
You will have the opportunity to engage with fact-checkers from Norway, Denmark, Finland, and Sweden, who shares their insights and experiences from the fact-checking industry within the Nordic countries.
The conference will conclude with discussions on digital source criticism as an approach, visual digital source criticism, and the presentation of the Digital Source Criticism handbook tailored for journalism bachelor students and enthusiasts in the media and communication field.
The conference is organized by OsloMet University and Kristiania University College, with the support of the Research Council of Norway.
