NB! From Oktober 2016, Ellen J Røed is employed as professor of Film and media for the profile area Art, Technology and Materiality at Stockholm University of the Arts. She can be reached through http://www.uniarts.se.
Røed is a visual artist and has made video, electronic/digital art and audiovisual installations within a variety of cross disciplinary contexts since 1995.
Using various electronic media she experiments with sound-image relationships and how video works in spatial relationships. As a research fellow in fine art at Bergen Academy of Art and Design, from 2009–2013, Røed employed a variety of instruments to explore parallels and contradictions between video art and natural sciences, with a focus on how we use devices to relate to our surroundings.
Røed worked at Bergen Center for Electronic Art (2002 - 2004), and from 2004 -2013 at the National Academy of the Arts in Bergen. She is currently Associate professor in Art at Oslo and Akershus University College.
