About
Mario D. Marino has received its PhD in Computer Engineering from University of Sao Paulo (Brazil) in 2001. Mario was a postdoc/visiting scholar at the Computer Science Department at University of Texas at Austin from 2007 to 2008.
Mario has joined the Department of Computer Science at Oslomet - Oslo Metropolitan University, Norway in 2025 as Associate Professor. Before joining OsloMet, he was Senior Lecturer at Leeds Beckett University from 2015 until 2025. From 2011 until 2015 Mario was an independent researcher in Italy.
From 2008 until 2011, he was a researcher at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Virginia. Before, Mario was Assistant Professor at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil (from 2004 to 2008). And from 2001 to 2004, he was Assistant Professor at two private universities in Sao Paulo (Brazil).
Mario has worked in the areas of distributed computing and high performance systems on his PhD and assisted the compiler team on the TRIPS processor project (University of Texas at Austin). He then has moved to the area of computer architecture, computer organization, and hardware development.
Mario is Associated Editor at the IEEE Access (from 2020) and at the Inderscience IJES (Embedded Systems, since 2015). As Associated Editor in IEEE Access, he has decided on the acceptance of more than 117 papers. Mario has done a number of article reviews for a number of excellent venues such as IEEE Transactions on Computers, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Transactions on Reliability, IEEE Transactions on Reliability, IEEE Sensors, IEEE Access, and Elsevier Future Generation Computer Systems.
In addition, he served as PC member in a considerable number of conferences such as the 2024 BenchCouncil, International Symposium on Benchmarking, Measuring and Optimizing, 21st IEEE International Conference on Scalable Computing and Communications (ScalComm 2021), 2021 IEEE International Conference on High Performance Computing and Communications, as other ones.
Mario was Technical Program Chair, at the Embedded and Ubiquituous Computing (EUC 2017) Conference, in Guangzhou, China.
