Nico Groenendijk is associated with OsloMet University, as a professor at AFI. From 2018-2020 he also worked at AFI, as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie research fellow, doing research on the governance of the European patent system. He is also visiting professor in European Studies, at the Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies, University of Tartu (Estonia). From 2005-2017 he was Jean Monnet professor of European Economic Governance at the University of Twente (Netherlands).
Nico Groenendijk has a background in public administration and in public sector economics. He has specialized in EU governance, fiscal federalism, the role of subnational authorities in Europe, the EU budget, EU institutional development, and economic policy coordination.
