Shanice Otersen has a background in fashion and textile design and holds a Master’s degree in Design for Sustainability from Designskolen Kolding in Denmark. Her design practice centres on material-driven approaches, and she is currently pursuing a PhD in Material Innovation for Sustainability at the Department of Product Design. Shanice has a strong interest in interdisciplinary collaboration and hands-on experience in biodesign, an emerging field that connects biology and design, where practitioners work with microorganisms and natural raw materials to develop innovative materials. In her previous role at a FabLab in Vejle, Denmark, she established a BioTechLab and introduced secondary school students to the world of biodesign.
