Exploring Neuroaffirmative Social Work with Autistic People

In this open guest lecture, Hanna Bertilsdotter Rosqvist will discuss how social workers can provide better services to autistic people.

It is widely recognized that social workers have varying levels of understanding regarding the unique needs and experiences of autistic individuals.

This gap in knowledge can lead to misunderstandings, inadequate support, and harmful effects on the mental and social wellbeing of those they are meant to serve.

In this lecture, Professor Hanna Bertilsdotter Rosqvist will introduce a neuroaffirmative approach to social work, emphasizing strategies to prevent autistic burnout, promote everyday energy management, and foster peer support and personal research.

Associate Professor Wenche Bekken will comment on Rosqvist’s lecture.
