This PhD programme includes three core areas: Knowledge Organisation and Retrieval, Mediation of Literature and Culture, Libraries in Society and Literary Sociology. The main focus is on the relation between information systems, such as a physical and digital libraries, and the actual and potential users of the documents in the systems.
The programme consists of courses related to e.g. systems for knowledge organisation and retrieval, methods for the description and indexing of documents, peoples’ information seeking behaviour, mediation of contents from the system to users, information and cultural policies.
