PhD candidate in physiotherapy and digital health

Oslo Metropolitan University is Norway's third largest university with almost 22,000 students and over 2,500 employees. We have campuses in central Oslo and at Romerike. OsloMet educates students and conducts research that contributes to the sustainability of the Norwegian welfare state and the metropolitan region.

The Faculty of Health Sciences consists of five departments and offers study programmes on all levels, including PhD. The faculty has about 6000 students and nearly 600 members of staff.

The Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Rehabilitation Science and Health Technology, has a three-year, fixed-term vacancy as a PhD candidate in the field of physiotherapy and digital health, affiliated with the project “Task shifting and remote monitoring in patients with knee osteoarthritis in specialist healthcare (OA-AID)”. The place of work will be Campus Pilestredet at Bislett in Oslo. As this project is being undertaken as a collaboration with Diakonhjemmet Hospital, the successful candidate must expect to spend time at the hospital to carry out data collection and participate in the research group.

The desired start date is 1 January 2025.

Field of work/project/field of research

The PhD project “Task shifting and remote monitoring in patients with knee osteoarthritis in specialist healthcare” is part of a larger project dealing with digital follow-up of individuals with knee osteoarthritis in the specialist health service. The purpose of the study with which this PhD position is affiliated is to examine whether digital follow-up can replace physical consultations after implanting knee prostheses in individuals with arthritis. The study will have a quantitative design, the purpose of which is to look at the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of digital follow-up compared to physical consultations after implanting knee prostheses.

The PhD candidate will be affiliated with the MUSK Health research group at OsloMet and the REMEDY research centre at Diakonhjemmet Hospital.

What we offer

The post is remunerated in accordance with the Norwegian State Salary Scale and OsloMet’s salary policy under code 1017 as a PhD candidate, salary grade 54, which corresponds to a starting salary of NOK 532,200 per annum.
