This course introduces students to the analysis and monitoring of human movement and activity using both theoretical perspectives and practical exercises. It focuses on the collection and interpretation of objective data related to movement patterns, gait function, muscle activity, and forces acting on the body.

Applicants must be admitted to a master's programme in the field of health sciences.

Course description

The course mainly focuses on monitoring and analysing gait patterns, gait function, and physical activity both in the laboratory and in everyday life.  The course will utilise modern technology for movement and activity analysis, such as accelerometers, force plates, 3D camera systems, video vector analysis, EMG, and equipment for measuring energy expenditure.

Exam

Individual oral examination, up to 30 minutes.

Grading scale: A-F.

Costs

There is no semester fee for exchange students.
