Equipment and other services for the visually impaired

The library in P48 has a book and text scanner. The equipment is useful for visually impaired, dyslexic, and others with reading difficulties, or who wish to have text read aloud.

Book scanner

You can quickly scan book pages and images, and adjust resolution, white balance and more. Send the file to yourself by e-mail, or save it on a memory stick. The maximum limit for sending e-mails is 1 GB, so bring a memory stick if you are going to scan a lot.

Contact the librarians or the IT Service Desk in P48 if you need help with the equipment.

Adapted books

The library at P48 has, together with Leser søker bok, a small collection of adapted literature. Studies show that one in three adults have some sort of reading difficulty. These books are adapted to different readers and their reading difficulties.

In the Lettlest collection in the Oria search service, you will find, for example, books with large print, braille and sensory books. Mainly in Norwegian (oria.no).

Search by voice in Oria

In Oria, you can click on the microphone in the search field and say what you want to search for (oria.no). Works in browsers that support the Web Speech API, for example Chrome.
