About
Fikriye C I Kaya is an Assistant Professor in Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics at OsloMet, where she teaches, supervises Bachelor’s and Master’s projects, and develops research with academic institutes and industry partners. Her current work focuses on engineering pedagogy, including AI-supported formative feedback and thermofluids education, as well as emerging research in water-energy harvesting. She represents OsloMet at international conferences and contributes to outreach through PaintENGNite/PaintENGsip (Women in STEM/Art in STEM), combining art, engineering and community engagement.
Her research background spans particle physics, quantum materials and nanomagnetism. Her Ph.D. at Tufts University and CERN focused on W+jets production with the ATLAS detector, whose work was recognised with the 2025 Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics. Earlier research at Harvard CIQM addressed wavefunctions and Raman spectroscopy, while her published work from Mount Holyoke College examined ferromagnetic nanostructures through simulation.
