About
Karl Joachim Breunig is a Full Professor of Strategy at Oslo Business School (since 2015). Prof. Breunig’s research concentrates on the interception of strategy- and innovation theory, involving topics such as service- and business model innovation, entrepreneurship, as well as digitalization in knowledge intensive firms. He received his Ph.D. in Strategic Management from BI Norwegian Business School and holds a MSc from London School of Economics. His PhD dissertation, addressing the effects of social networks on dynamic capabilities, received the Hedlund-award 2012-2014. Breunig have had research visits at Stanford University (2015), University of Oxford (2022) and Harvard University (2024), held an adjunct position (Professor II) at NTNU- Norwegian University of Science and Technology (2016-18) and at OsloMet previously headed the research group DISCO-Digital Innovation and Strategic Competence in Organizations (2017-23) as well as the PhD profile BIG- Business Administration, Innovation and Governance (2021-23).
