About
Rune is a lecturer in medical basic sciences and pre-hospital emergency medicine. He has served as module lead for Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry (PMED1100), Bachelor’s Thesis (PMED3900), and Assessment and Treatment of Acutely Ill and Injured Patients (PMED1400). He also acts as an expert advisor to the Norwegian Directorate of Health on matters related to paramedicine.
Rune has several years of experience in the Armed Forces, including strategic leadership, leadership development, and project management.
His ongoing research projects include:
- Mortality rates and mortality characteristics among frequent callers to emergency medical communication centres: a register-based cohort study
- Recontextualising learning in clinical ambulance practice: the role of simulation, perceived learning outcomes, self-efficacy, and organisational support
Ongoing development projects include:
- Development and implementation of a Master’s degree in Advanced Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine
- Development and implementation of supplementary education within the Bachelor’s degree in Paramedicine
- Teacher qualification in advanced clinical practice - Urgent & Emergency Care

The purpose of this PhD project is to increase knowledge about so-called "frequent callers" to the emergency medical communication center (EMCC).
