About
I am employed as an Associate Professor in the Master’s Programme in Midwifery at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet). As part of my doctoral project, I conducted a randomized study entitled Safe Pregnancy, which resulted in both qualitative and quantitative studies. The overarching focus of the PhD project was pregnant women’s experiences of violence perpetrated by a former or current intimate partner. Within the project, we developed and tested the effectiveness of a tablet-based informational video aimed at preventing and reducing intimate partner violence during pregnancy. The doctoral project was funded by the Research Council of Norway (RCN).
My current research interests continue to focus on women’s experiences of intimate partner violence during pregnancy and the early childhood period. I am a project researcher in the Mother in Norway study (MiNS), a randomized controlled trial that includes more than 30 municipalities and urban districts across Norway. The MiNS study examines outcomes for women who are expecting their first child and who require additional follow-up. The aim of the study is to generate knowledge about the types of support first time parents need during pregnancy and the early parenting period. The MiNS study is conducted by researchers at the Work Research Institute (AFI), OsloMet. In addition, I conduct research on various topics within the field of midwifery.
I hold a PhD from OsloMet (2024), a master’s degree in nursing science from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Oslo (2012), a midwifery qualification from Oslo and Akershus University College (2005), and a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Akershus University College (1997). At OsloMet, I teach and supervise students in both clinical and theoretical subjects.
