OsloMet has collaboration agreements with the municipalities that make up the country’s capital region. The capital region consists of Oslo and the municipalities in Akershus county that surround the capital. The capital region is the fastest-growing area in the country and accounts for more than a quarter of Norway’s total population.
The municipalities in the capital region are characterised by strong growth in both population and number of businesses, and they have a relatively young population. OsloMet has campuses in both Oslo and Akershus (Lillestrøm) and has made it a strategic priority to build strong partnerships with municipalities and the business sector in our region. Oslo is the country’s largest higher education hub, with a total of 90,000 students.
Municipal partnerships
The collaboration between OsloMet and the municipalities is intended to ensure that the university’s research and educational programmes are relevant and beneficial to the metropolitan region. Both parties are committed to initiating concrete academic and professional collaboration projects.
The collaboration may encompass a wide range of activities, including recruitment, continuing and further education, the establishment of university-based initiatives, research, student placements, and the piloting and development of innovations within municipal services.
