The project questions the significance of dress, craftmanship and identity at a time when questions – and tensions - around fast fashion and sustainability, AI, multiculturalism, gender, and globalisation have significantly impacted the way in which Norwegians and Scots look at traditional and historic dress, use it, make it and preserve it.
During the last year, the project has arranged workshops, seminars and artist’s exchanges, both in Scotland and in Norway, supported by Arts Council Norway as well as partners in both countries.
The 26th of November 2026, we arrange a seminar at Oslo Metropolitan University, were we welcome artists, craftspeople, curators, and researchers to explore these issues in depth.
Deadline for registration is 1 November 2026. There is no participation fee.
The conference is moderated by Dr. Kitty Corbet Milward, formerly British Council Nordic Office and Co-Curator of ‘Interweaving Threads’ with Camilla Rossing, Director of the Norwegian Institute for Bunad and Folk Dress.
