However, as organizations grow increasingly complex in the advent of emerging digital technologies, IPM practices are changing accordingly.
This thesis focuses on the influences of emerging digital technologies on IPM practices and the ensuing adaptations that are made to IPM in organizations that are aiming for digital innovation outcomes. The purpose is to explore and adapt the phenomenon of IPM practices in organizations that aim for digital innovation outcomes.
Through the original articles, the thesis contributes novel perspectives to IPM that can be used by practitioners to gain a better understanding of their innovation portfolios, evaluate the composition of existing portfolios and suggest appropriate steps to handle an innovation portfolio that is characterized by heterogeneity.
