Quantifying AI users' trust: A new scale of AI trustworthiness developed at OsloMet

Trust in new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a growing area of research. One of the central questions in this research is how to measure user trust in this type of technology.

This seminar event is to present a new AI Trustworthiness Scale, developed at OsloMet.

This new scale integrates items to assess developer reputation and specificities of AI-based solution development into existing trustworthiness scales.

Based on users' perceptions, the quantitative scale of AI trustworthiness combines the levels of understanding, performance, and reputation of AI tools and algorithms.

The questionnaire has been validated with a survey in Norway over 1330 subjects. As an example of AI, we tested respondents' trust in ChatGPT.

The quantitative scale for AI Trustworthiness was developed and validated within the collaboration of NordSTAR and NIBR at OsloMet.

The core team comprises of Yuri Kasahara from NIBR and Tumaini Kabudi, Weiqin Chen, Anis Yazidi and Pedro Lind from NordSTAR (TKD).

As the next steps the team is now starting contact with the Norwegian Health sector, and business companies in Norway and in Germany.

Details will be provided during the presentation.

The presentation is in English and is open to all!

Presented by: NordSTAR and NIBR.
