Research about the Norwegian national school leadership education

Norwegian universities and colleges have since 2009 offered national school leadership programs on behalf of the Norwegian Directorate of Education. The Faculty of Teacher Education and International Studies at OsloMet has been appointed to research these programmes.

    About the project

The project aims to develop knowledge on the following topics:

    • Knowledge about leadership in developing schools and school leadership programs that promote school development
    • The design of national school leadership programs and how learning activities that are part of the programs can be improved.
    • Knowledge about school leaders' development in the role of leader, development of leadership practice in the school and development of the school as an organization.
    • External contextual conditions with significance for whether the school leader programs give results in practice.

The research will contribute valuable knowledge for education authorities, providers of education, school owners, school leaders, and schools 'practices regarding staff and students' learning.

Professor Marit Aas at the Faculty of Teacher Education and International Studies leads the project. The project is carried out in a formalized collaboration with NTNU v / Department of Teacher Education (ILU) and HINN v / Center for Practical Education (SEPU).

The project consists of three sub-projects documented through three sub-reports, a final report, and articles in international research journals.
