Education and Religion in Development (UTVB2200)

This course will focus specifically on the role of education, and the relationship between education and religion, in processes of social change both historically and in contemporary societies. The aim of the course is to focus on how education enables individual empowerment and stimulates national consolidation and poverty reduction. Further, the course looks into how religion is a crucial element in educational traditions, both historically and in contemporary societies, and also how modernisation and globalisation processes change and give education systems new roles and importance in society.

  • Admission requirements

    You must have completed at least a one-year introductory course in Development Studies or equivalent courses at your home institution.
