Cultural-Historical Activity Theory – CHAT (PHUV9350)

Admission requirements

The course is aimed at PhD candidates admitted to the PhD Program in Educational Sciences for Teacher Education. It is also open to other applicants.

The admission requirement is a five-year master’s degree (three years pluss two years), or equivalent qualification or other qualifications in teacher education, educational science or development studies.

Those applicants who are not enrolled in the PhD Programme in Educational Sciences for Teacher Education will have to send a summary of maximum one A4 sheet with relevant information about their own PhD project or other project/sphere of interest containing the topic, methodology, theoretical approach, how far they are in their PhD work and why this particular subject is relevant for their project.

Ranking of applicants

In case of a large number of applicants, we will prioritise in this order:

• PhD candidates enrolled in the PhD program in Educational Sciences for Teacher Education
• other academic employees at the Faculty of Teacher Education and International Studies
• external applicants

Please note: The course can be held if admission is granted to five or more students.

In a PhD programme outside OsloMet

• Confirmation from your PhD programme containing: Name of the PhD programme, institution, and the month and year you started.
• Final diploma/Degree certificate (master' s level). Does not apply to applicants with a master's degree from OsloMet.
• Transcript / mark sheets (master' s level). Does not apply to applicants with a master's degree from OsloMet.

An Academic Employee at OsloMet

• Final diploma/Degree certificate (bachelor's and master' s level). Does not apply to applicants with a master's degree from OsloMet.
• Transcript / mark sheets (bachelor's and master' s level). Does not apply to applicants with a master's degree from OsloMet.

An Academic Employee at a university other than OsloMet (at a Norwegian university

• Final diploma/Degree certificate (bachelor's and master' s level). Does not apply to applicants with a master's degree from OsloMet.
• Transcript / mark sheets (bachelor's and master' s level. Does not apply to applicants with a master's degree from OsloMet.
• Workplace: Link to your “staff” page at your University/University College: to be written in the comments field in Søknadsweb.

Other applicants

• Verification of identity (copy of passport, attestation from the National Population.  Does not apply to applicants with a master's degree from OsloMet. 
• Final diploma/Degree certificate (bachelor's and master' s level). Does not apply to applicants with a master's degree from OsloMet.
• Transcript / mark sheets (bachelor's and master' s level). Does not apply to applicants with a master's degree from OsloMet.

It is mandatory to do all steps within the application deadline. Applications without required documentation will not be processed.

Participants who have completed and passed  the course may obtain documentation themselves. You can order a transcript of grades on Studentweb (fsweb.no) or it can be obtained from Vitnemålsportalen (vitnemalsportalen.no).
