This course provides an introduction to the history and current developments within digitization and dissemination of cultural heritage.
Admission requirements
The target groups of this course are master's students of records management or library and information science, or related fields.
An advanced level bachelor’s student of records management or library and information science can be admitted to the course if they are considered to have sufficient prior knowledge.

Course description
In this course, you will learn firsthand how to use digital tools to uncover new insights from cultural heritage made available through digital archives.
- methods for distant reading of large text corpora
- using metadata for analysis, visualization, and dissemination of digital library and archival materials

Teaching methods
Lectures, seminars, self-study, discussions, and guidance on a weekly basis at campus. The students receive feedback and supervision during dialog-based teaching and joint supervision in class.
Coursework requirements
The following coursework requirements must have been approved for the student to take the exam:
- A group of 2-4 students creates a poster on one of the course topics. The poster must be accompanied by a note (4 pages) that provides a detailed description of the poster.
- Plenary presentation (10-15 minutes) of the poster with all group members participating. Each group is also assigned a poster from another group for thorough commentary.
Exam and assessment
A supervised exam of four hours.

There is no semester fee for exchange students.
