The Faculty of Technology, Art and Design (TKD) offers higher education and research and development (R&D) activities within technical subjects, arts and design. The Faculty has approximately 4.000 students and 400 staff members and is situated at Pilestredet Campus in downtown Oslo and at Kjeller Campus in Viken.
The Department of Built Environment offers bachelors and master’s degree programs in engineering, in addition to research and development activities. The department has approximately 60 staff members and 850 students.
There is vacancy for a permanent 100% position at the Department of Built Environment for an Associate Professor in Digital Urban Planning. We are looking for an innovative, creative and responsible candidate who will lead and teach courses in urban analytics, data visualization and smart cities. Further, the candidate will contribute to supervision and development at bachelor, master and PhD level within this area.

Your main duties and areas of responsibility will be to
- teach and supervise at bachelor, master and Ph.D. level, and continuing education
- be in contact with the professional field
- strengthen the professional research work within urban analytics, space syntax, data visualization, smart cities, and closely related fields
- perform academic administrative tasks
- actively contribute to the development if the department and OsloMet as an institution
- communicate research results, both within the academic community and society as a whole
- be a driving force in the development of large-scale research projects and applications for external funding together with colleagues in the academic community
- take the initiative to and further develop research collaborations with national and international partners
Qualification requirements
- a PhD in urban planning, spatial planning, transport engineering, geography or architecture, or equivalent competence documented through scientific or artistic work of the same scope and quality
- proven academic track record in research activities with dissemination or publication in one or several of the following areas: urban analytics, space syntax, data visualization, smart cities, and closely related fields
- educational competence in accordance with OsloMet’s guidelines(https://ansatt.oslomet.no/en/utdanningsfaglig-kompetanse)
- written and oral proficiency in Norwegian, Swedish or Danish (minimum level B2), and English
Applicants who do not have adequate proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language, shall be offered Norwegian courses, and must acquire Norwegian skills corresponding to at least level B2 within three years of appointment.
General criteria for appointment to teaching and research positions are set out in the Regulation relating to the Act relating to Universities and University Colleges.

The salary for the position is in accordance with the Basic Collective Agreement for state employees and OsloMets pay policy for Associate Professor in code 1011, corresponding to 620 300 - 745 000 NOK per year. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants. From the salary, 2% will be deducted in pension contributions for the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund (SPK).
