In my PhD-project, starting September 2023, I am analysing conflicts related to issues of neutrality and political stance in public libraries in Norway and Denmark. I am particularly interested in the issue of the public library for all, a core value in the library sector, which at the same time also raises questions and debate. 

Through interviews with library users, I study the users experience and perception of the librarys societal role as an independent meeting place and arena for debate, based on the conflicts that have characterized public libraries in recent years about censorship, freedom of expression and access.
