The University Board approved the establishment of a new doctoral programme in Innovation for Sustainability 15 September.
The department offers study programmes in drama- and theatre communication, art and design, teacher training and design and communication in digital media, based on leading research, artistic development and empirical knowledge. The research groups focus on Art in society, Design literacy and Design, Culture and Sustainability.

The Department of Art, Design and Drama covers a wide area within drama and theatre communication, art and design, teacher training and design and communication in digital media.
You may combine different subjects to a bachelor’s degree or take a one-year programme as a further education. In addition you may take a master’s degree in Visual and Performing Arts.
The department wants to be an interesting and challenging place of study for professional and vocational education and offers study programmes based on leading research, artistic development and empirical knowledge. Good training arrangements are an important priority area at the department and practice in the professional field is essential.
The Department of Art, Design and Drama is one of five departments at the Faculty of Technology Art and Design and is situated at Pilestredet Campus in Oslo.
Oslo’s many museums and galleries are used actively as a part of the teaching.
The department offers new workshops, modern rehearsal rooms, learning center and reading room, in addition to electronic networks and databases that provide access to national and international specialist literature.
The department has approximately 600 students and 50 staff members.
