Research collaboration

OsloMet collaborates with a broad range of academic and non-academic institutions that share our commitment to making a sustainable impact on society through research.

OsloMet is Norway’s third-largest university, best known for its many programmes of professional study and our research on the Scandinavian welfare state and other societal challenges. This makes the university an attractive partner for international research communities as well as for public sector agencies, industry and civil society.

A global footprint

OsloMet engages actively in international research collaboration at the Nordic, European and global level. We currently have nearly 300 partnership agreements with institutions in over 60 countries, including collaboration within research, education and innovation. The majority of our partner institutions are in Europe, but we also have strategic partnerships in countries such as the United States, China, India, South Africa, Uganda and Ghana.

OsloMet supports the priorities of Norwegian foreign and development policies, including the sustainable development goals, and is committed to promoting research collaboration with the Global South, and African partner countries in particular.

Enhancing the quality and relevance of our research through participation in international research programmes is a major strategic priority. The university is committed to increasing its participation in the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, Horizon 2020. OsloMet is involved in an increasing number of EU proposals, and currently participates in 18 projects funded by Horizon 2020.

Research with an impact on society

As our research and education profile is strongly oriented toward the professions, OsloMet maintains close ties to key actors in the public sector. Our researchers collaborate with public sector institutions at all levels. This includes partnerships with government ministries, directorates and agencies, as well as municipalities, nursing homes and schools. This extensive network provides OsloMet with a unique opportunity to engage in co-creation with end-users and increases the relevance and impact of our research.

OsloMet also contributes to innovative and sustainable solutions to societal challenges through close collaboration with private industry, both nationally and internationally.
