Teacher Education as a Process of Bildung: Dialogical and Critical Perspectives

This research group aims at exploring teacher education as an arena for Bildung processes. The intention is to develop a future-oriented understanding of the concept of Bildung and thereby contribute to the development of today’s teacher education.

PhD Defences 2018

The cross-curricular group makes use of the concept of Bildung as an integrating arena for exploring diverse concepts closely related to Bildung, as democratic citizenship, dialogue, critical thinking, and diversity. These concepts carry with them a historical understanding from their antique roots directly into today’s educational discourses and are central to a teacher education built on humanistic values.

The group belongs to the Faculty of Education and International Studies.
