AdaptEx - Adaptive Exergame for Pediatric Brain Injury Rehabilitation

AdaptEx is an innovative exergame framework that turns rehabilitation into a personalized, game-based experience.

Every year, thousands of children suffer from brain injuries that disrupt their ability to move, think and interact, yet rehabilitation often ends when they leave the hospital, leaving families struggling to maintain progress.

This project tackles that gap by developing AdaptEx, an innovative exergame framework that transforms rehabilitation into a personalised, game-based experience.

Unlike static rehabilitation tools, AdaptEx offers a flexible system of interchangeable mini-games (modular), guided by clinician-defined settings (prescription-driven), and connected through an overarching reward storyline (meta-game) to sustain motivation and improve compliance.

The platform will run on mobile and tablet devices with camera-based motion tracking and optional VR headsets, ensuring accessibility and immersion.
