This course will be dedicated to specific research traditions and approaches in library and information science (LIS), and their current applications. The focus will be on different theoretical or methodological themes each time the course is taught. PBIB9300 gives 3 ECTS, PBIB9350 gives 5 ECTS. The difference in ETCS is reflected in the length of the exam paper.
This year´s specialisation
This year, we address the sociology of literature as a perspective and an approach to analyzing relations between literature and society, including such subjects as reading and reading cultures, literary politics, literary production, literature and technologies, institutions, and actors in the literary field. The course covers both empirical and theoretical approaches to interpreting and understanding these and similar subjects in relation to historical and contemporary contexts.
We welcome candidates from different disciplines. The course is organized as a workshop providing an interdisciplinary platform for discussing research projects presented by candidates and experienced researchers. The applicants’ PhD topics and interests may be, but are not limited to, literature and politics, reading and democracy, the history of reading and publishing, the role of literature in contemporary society, literature in war and conflict, and literature, health and aesthetics.
