Associate Professor in Building Technology

Oslo Metropolitan University is Norway's third largest university with almost 22,000 students and over 2,500 employees. We have campuses in central Oslo and at Romerike. OsloMet educates students and conducts research that contributes to the sustainability of the Norwegian welfare state and the metropolitan region.

The Faculty of Technology, Art and Design (TKD) offers higher education and research and development (R&D) activities within technical subjects, arts and design. The Faculty has approximately 4.000 students and 400 staff members and is situated at Pilestredet Campus in downtown Oslo and at Kjeller Campus in Viken.

The Department of Built Environment offers bachelors and master’s degree programs in engineering, in addition to research and development activities. The department has approximately 60 staff members and 850 students.

At the Department of Built Environment there is a vacancy for a 100 % permanent position as Associate Professor in Building Technology. The preferred start date is 01.08.2024. The department is further developing its study portfolio and has plans to strengthen its professional environment within building technology. We are looking for an innovative, creative and responsible candidate who is able to contribute to teaching, research and development within building technology. The candidate will lead research and teaching with a focus on building technology, building physics, smart building design and digital twins. The candidate will also collaborate with the department's groups to carry out interdisciplinary activities.

The applicant must document relevant educational competence in accordance with OsloMet’s Guidelines for the assessment of educational competence at OsloMet

General criteria for appointments to academic positions are covered by the Regulations concerning appointment and promotion to teaching and research posts

Applicants who do not have adequate proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language, shall be offered Norwegian courses, and must acquire Norwegian skills corresponding to at least level B2 within three years of appointment.

We offer

The salary for the position is in accordance with the Basic Collective Agreement for state employees and OsloMets pay policy for Associate Professor in code 1011, corresponding to NOK NOK 615 700- 745 000 per year. rom the salary, 2% will be deducted in pension contributions for the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund (SPK). A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants.

For applicants who cannot document competencies within teaching in higher education have to develop this within two years from accession. OsloMet offers courses in teaching and learning in higher education which covers this requirement.
