About
Background:
Carl-Emil Marstrander Askildsen is employed as an Associate Professor at OsloMet – Oslo Metropolitan University, in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science. He is originally trained as a teacher with academic specialisations in physical education, natural sciences, and history, and has previously worked as a teacher in primary and lower secondary schools.
Askildsen’s doctoral thesis examines the use of a pedagogical model (The Practising Model) in physical education at the lower secondary school level.
Research and Teaching:
Askildsen’s research is practice-oriented and particularly focuses on the use of pedagogical models, especially the Practising Model, in physical education. In terms of research methodology, he has experience with qualitative data collection methods and projects employing an action research design. His research is theoretically grounded in phenomenological philosophy, educational/Bildung theory, didactics, and existential pedagogy.
Askildsen teaches both practical and theoretical subjects in the Physical Education Teacher Education program and also supervises master's students.
