The overall objective of this PhD project was to identify risk factors, risk profiles, and risk trajectories for mental and musculoskeletal disorders in young adults. The project has been carried out in three work packages (WPs).
The aim of WP1 was to synthesize existing literature on risk factors for mental and musculoskeletal disorders among adolescents and young adults, resulting in two systematic reviews on back and neck pain.
WP2 examined risk factors and profiles using Norwegian data sources (HUNT, Ungdata, Fit Futures, SHoT).
Henriette Jahre (PhD 2018–2022) published three articles and defended a thesis on prevalence and risk factors for neck and musculoskeletal pain.
Kaja Smedbråten (PhD 2018–2025) published three articles on lifestyle behavior and comorbidities and defended her thesis Musculoskeletal pain in young people in 2025.
WP3 consists of a cross-sectional study on health and lifestyle factors among high school students in Oslo.
