Can Life Expectancy Feedback Improve Dietary Adherence?

Can feedback on how many years of life a healthier diet might add improve adherence to dietary guidelines? A pilot study tests this in an AI-assisted digital service.

Unhealthy diet is a leading cause of noncommunicable disease, yet few follow dietary guidelines over time. Digital tools and artificial intelligence are increasingly used to generate personalised dietary plans, without knowing which individual features actually help change habits.

This pilot study tests specifically whether feedback on how much longer a person might expect to live by eating more healthily can improve adherence to dietary guidelines.

Around 60 adults will be recruited and randomly assigned to dietary plans with or without such feedback. The main aim is to assess feasibility and prepare a full-scale randomised trial.

This project is part of the strategic research area Future Health and Care Services.
