Both internal and external PhD candidates may take single courses at our Faculty, but the application process differs.
Internal candidates: If you are admitted to the PhD programme to which the course belongs, you can register for the course in Studentweb (student.oslomet.no).
External candidates: If you are admitted to a PhD programme at another institution, or to a different PhD programme at OsloMet, you must first apply for study rights at one of our PhD-programs through Søknadsweb (fsweb.no). Please read the information below before you apply. If your application is approved, you can then register for the course you want in Studentweb (student.oslomet.no).
Admission requirements
Two requirements must be met for external admission to single courses:
- You must be admitted to a PhD programme or be employed as a PhD research fellow (ie planning to apply or in the process of applying for admission to a PhD-programme).
- The course must be relevant for your PhD-project.
Application procedure
To apply, log into Søknadsweb. If asked to choose an institution, select “OsloMet”. Choose “PhD Courses – TKD” (under “Single subjects”). Complete the form and remember to upload the required attachments.
If your application is approved, you will receive an offer of study rights. A few days after you have accepted the offer, you will receive an OsloMet account. You can then register for your chosen course via Studentweb.
Please note that you cannot register for courses until you have received the login information for your OsloMet account.
Required documentation
In Søknadsweb, you must upload:
- Confirmation of admission to a PhD programme (alternatively, confirmation of employment as a PhD fellow if you are not yet admitted to a PhD programme).
- A brief summary, approximately one A4 page, describing your PhD project: topic, methodology, theoretical approach, how far into your project you are and why this PhD course is relevant to your project. Include the name of the course you want to take.
Overview of courses
Via the links below you can, among other things, see an overview of all our courses, which courses are offered in the current semester, and when they start (under “timetable”). The registration deadline is usually three weeks before the first day of teaching.
Study rights and priority
- Study rights are normally granted for one semester upon admission. Contact the study administration if you wish to extend your study rights.
- The courses are offered primarily for PhD candidates. OsloMet PhD candidates have priority.
- External applicants are offered admission provided there are available places.
Costs
There is no fee for taking single courses at our Faculty.
Access card
Access cards for teaching facilities can be collected at the Card Centre in Pilestredet 46.
