Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer in Performing Arts

Oslo Metropolitan University is Norway's third largest university with 23,000 students and over 2,600 employees. We have campuses in central Oslo and at Romerike. OsloMet educates students and conducts research that contributes to the sustainability of the Norwegian welfare state and the metropolitan region.

The Faculty of Technology, Art and Design (TKD) offers higher education and research and development (R&D) activities within technical subjects, arts and design. The Faculty has approximately 4.000 students and 400 staff members and is situated at Pilestredet Campus in downtown Oslo and at Kjeller Campus in Viken.

The Department of Art, Design and Drama (EST) is developing rapidly and is facing exciting changes in the next few years. The department has approximately 900 students and 58 employees. We offer study programmes at bachelor's and master's level in design, arts and crafts, drama and theatre communication, art dissemination, and fashion and production. In addition, we have a new PhD program: Innovation for sustainability, and number of further education programmes and practical pedagogical programmes in design, arts and crafts and drama and theatre communication. Most of the study programmes have an element of outreach practical training as an integral part. The department has four research groups and a high level of activity in external activities. This is affiliated with the department's unit for lifelong learning

The Faculty of Technology, Art and Design, Department of Art, Design & Drama, has a permanent (60%) position available as Associate Professor or Senior Lecturer in Performing Arts.

The position is connected to teaching in drama and theater subjects, with a focus on puppet theater, as well as drama pedagogy. The position involves teaching and supervising students in the Bachelor of Drama and Theater Communication, the Master of Aesthetic Practices in Society, practical-pedagogical education (PPU), as well as various elective subjects and continuing and further education programs at the department. The position may involve program and subject coordination.

The Bachelor of Drama and Theater Communication at OsloMet combines theater and drama pedagogy. The program provides both practical and theoretical skills in theater and communication and includes practical experience with children and young people in various learning and communication contexts.

The Faculty of Technology, Art and Design has a focus on artistic development work, research, and innovation, and several research groups are active at the Department of Art, Design and Drama. It is expected that the successful applicant will participate in research and professional development projects. Other responsibilities may include participation in, or leadership of, degree program development processes and teaching activities, along with fostering and maintaining collaborations with relevant stakeholders in the field of practice.

This position also involves contributing to the development of future internally and externally funded projects, as well as collaboration with partners from various sectors. Other tasks at the faculty may be assigned.

Qualification requirements for the position

Applicants who do not have adequate proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language, shall be offered Norwegian courses, and must acquire Norwegian skills corresponding to at least level B2 within three years of appointment.

As an applicant, you must document relevant educational competence in accordance with OsloMet's Guidelines for the Assessment of Educational Competence.

Upon employment, a successful applicant who cannot document such university pedagogical basic competence must acquire this competence within a two-year period. OsloMet offers a course in university pedagogy (UHPED) that covers this requirement.

General criteria for appointment to teaching and research positions are set out in the Regulations relating to Appointment and Promotion to Teaching and Research Positions (FOR-2006-02-09-129), cf. transitional rules described in Section 13.2 of the Regulations relating to the Act relating to Universities and University Colleges.

We offer

The salary for the position is in accordance with the Basic Collective Agreement for state employees and OsloMets pay policy for Associate Professor in code 1011 or Senior Lecturer in code 1198, corresponding to 620 300 – 745 000 NOK per year. From the salary, 2% will be deducted in pension contributions for the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund (SPK). A higher salary may be considered particularly well-qualified applicants.
