About

I am a professor of public policy and administration at Oslomet Business School. I have a PhD in political science from the University of Tromsø (2004).

My research interests relate to organizational studies in general, with public organizations as the main empirical area of investigation. My research is about understanding how public organizations relate to their environment and respond to different forms of pressure. The data comes from hospitals, independent state agencies and regulatory bodies, universities, but also to some extent from the private and non-profit sector.

The issues I am concerned with are about how reputations are managed and how organizations build themselves up as strong brands; how organizational identity and values are expressed and change over time, as well as how management concepts are diffused and translated. Theoretically speaking, I build largely on new institutional theory, especially the Scandinavian institutional school.
