In the field, I nearly died in the Arctic, helped save a bat scientist after a deadly snakebite in the Amazon, and witnessed the miracle of birth many times while embedded in a labor-and-delivery ward in Zambia. It remains my favorite place to be—and the most physically and mentally exhausting place I know. These experiences taught me that the stories that matter most often live just outside the institutional frame.
My background and adaptability shape how I frame stories, conduct artistic research, and teach. Feelings are not enough: evidence, ethics, and accountability must support the story. Documentary filmmaking connects artistic representation and journalistic documentation with audiences and communities. I bring this foundation to OsloMet’s Bachelor’s Program in Photojournalism, practical projects in the Master’s Program in Media Development, and talks, masterclasses, and individual mentoring for storytellers and researchers.
