About

Trine Krigsvoll Haagensen works with development in and teaching of the cross-disciplinary course "Technology and Society". Haagensen comes from a cross disciplinary background, with a Ph.D. in art history from the University of Bergen, a masters degree in Media Studies from the University of Oslo and a bachelors degree in Cross-disciplinary Gender Studies, University of Oslo. Her doctoral thesis "Picture as paradigm - analysis of the relationship between pictures and scientific knowledge in astronomy" (in Norwegian) discusses the relationship between pictures and scientific knowledge in astronomy through contemporary, historical and interdisciplinary perspectives. The thesis consists of three parts, corresponding to the introduction of three distinct technologies of visualisation, namely the telescope, photography and digital visualisation technologies.

Haagensen's main research interests are within the interdisciplinary field of imaging and visualisation technologies, and how they partake in development of knowledge and understandings of our surroundings, including our self understandings - as technical apparatuses in broader theoretical, epistemic, discursive, bodily and epistemological apparatuses.

Haagensen participated in the establishment of the research field Media Aesthetics at University of Oslo. She is also associated member of the research groups Media Aesthetics (University of Oslo) and Images of Knowledge (University of Bergen).

Haagensen was one of the initiators and organisers of the annual Surveillance seminar together with Prof. Liv Hausken (University of Oslo).
