Faculty board, councils and committees at TKD

The Faculty of Technology, Art and Design has a board, councils and committees with various functions.

TKD has governing and advisory bodies whose tasks and mandates are based on, among other things, the Universities and University Colleges Act, the Working Environment Act, and the Main Collective Agreement, as well as various regulations and guidelines. 

These bodies ensure democratic participation, including student involvement in the organization, and contribute to academic quality and strategic development. Several of the bodies also have a supervisory function.

The Faculty Board

The Faculty Board at the Faculty of Technology, Art and Design is the faculty’s supreme body.

The Faculty Board shall

  • define goals, priorities, and measures for the faculty's operations, in accordance with laws, regulations, and rules, and frameworks and goals set out by the University Board, the rector, or the person the rector authorizes
  • speak on behalf of the faculty in matters that are of principal importance, or in cases where the rector has asked the Faculty Board to consider a matter
  • consider reports to be sent from the faculty to the rector

The Academic Affairs Committee at TKD

The Academic Affairs Committee at Faculty of Technology, Art and Design makes decisions in some education-related matters delegated by the dean.

The R&D Committee at the Faculty

The R&D Committee at the Faculty of Technology, Art and Design advises the faculty management and has been delegated power of decision in specific cases.

The Doctoral Committee at TKD

The Doctoral Committee at the Faculty of Technology, Art and Design contributes to the development of the faculty's PhD education.

The Information, Discussion and Negotiation Meetings (IDF)

Employees at the Faculty of Technology, Art and Design (TKD) have co-determination through the Information, Consultation and Negotiation Meetings (IDF), where the trade unions and faculty management are represented.

The trade unions are represented by elected representatives.

The local working environment committee at TKD is a collaborative body that works to ensure a fully satisfactory working environment.

The Appointment Committees and Council

The Appointment Committee and Council at Faculty of Technology, Art and Design have decision-making rights for appointments in all positions delegated to the faculty, with certain exceptions.
