The DigiKrim project examines how digital and physical arenas interact in the development of crime among children and young people in Norwegian cities – and explores potential preventative measures.
DigiKrim examines the role that digital spaces play in the development of child and youth crime in Norway’s major cities. The project analyzes how digital and physical spaces interact with regard to risk zones, recruitment, organization, and the commission of crime among young people.
The study is based on a mixed-methods design involving literature and document review, analyses of crime data, and qualitative interviews with police, municipal actors, children and young people with experience of crime, as well as national authorities.
Data collection is being conducted in Stavanger, Oslo, Bærum, Bergen, Drammen, and Kristiansand, with some supplementary interviews in Sweden.
The project aims to develop knowledge about how digital platforms influence youth crime, identify key trends, and provide research-based recommendations for prevention, police work, and cross-sector collaboration in Norway’s major cities.
