What does research tell us about high-quality youth clubs and open meeting places for children and youth? This project synthesises existing knowledge to support the development of a national guidance manual for municipalities by Norwegian Directorate for Children, Youth and Family Affairs (Bufdir).
Youth clubs and open meeting places are important arenas for participation, inclusion and social connection among children and youth. However, services vary across municipalities in terms of organisation, resources and local priorities.
NOVA is conducting a research-based knowledge review on behalf of Bufdir to support the development of a national guidance manual for municipalities.
The project examines what research tells us about quality, organisation, framework conditions and local governance of youth clubs and open meeting places. The review draws primarily on Norwegian research from the past decade.
The aim is to provide municipalities and other stakeholders with a stronger evidence base for developing and improving youth clubs and open meeting places that are relevant, accessible and beneficial for children and youth.
