This project strengthens emergency preparedness by mapping expert reasoning in early pharmacovigilance and specifying requirements for explainable, human centered AI decision support.
This project examines how experts assess causality under limited evidence in health emergencies.
Using 10 focus groups with 50 safety assessors, we apply qualitative analysis (Systematic Text Condensation) to develop a cognitive map of decision making (confounders, temporality, thresholds).
The map will be validated in a second round of focus groups or a short Delphi and, together with STS expertise, translated into requirements for explainable, human centered AI that fits existing workflows/SOPs.
We will also produce practice checklists and assemble a consortium for subsequent design and testing.
