Transformative Energy-Efficient Multi-Sensor Fusion for PhysioNeuroCardiac-Coupling Orchestration (TEMPO)

The project investigates an energy-efficient wireless platform synchronizing brain, heart, muscle, and motion sensors with microsecond precision to identify brain-heart correlations and biomarkers for rehabilitation and remote treatment of arrhythmias.

Cardiac rhythm problems can disrupt blood flow to the brain, but today’s wearables cannot precisely align brain, heart, muscle, and movement signals to study these fast interactions.

The ADEPT research team, with Oslo University Hospital and semiconductor industry partners, will investigate an energy‑aware wireless platform that synchronizes multiple sensors, adds traceable "wall‑clock" timing at gateways, and miniaturizes the approach for a low‑power timing test chip.

They will quantify accuracy, test energy–precision trade‑offs, and validate findings in volunteers, comparing sensor readouts with degenerative biomarkers. The goal is earlier, more reliable insights for rehabilitation and remote monitoring, while reducing false alarms and clinician burden.
