Implementing a stratified vocational advice intervention in individuals at high risk of long-term sickness absence with musculoskeletal disorders (SVAI)

This PhD project aims to facilitate a sustainable work life for individuals at high risk of long-term sickness absence due to musculoskeletal disorders in Norway.

Around 13 percent on sick leave do not return to work within three months. Identifying these individuals at high risk in the early stage of the sickness absence is essential to implement effective interventions to reduce the long-term sickness absence.

The overall objective of this project is to facilitate a sustainable work life for individuals at high risk of long-term sick leave and/or disability pension due to musculoskeletal disorders in Norway by implementing the promising Stratified Vocational Advice Intervention (SVAI) that was developed and evaluated in the MI-NAV trial during the period 2018-2023.

The PhD project is part of the MI-NAV-project.
