Jamie Johnston

My overarching research interest is in how libraries and other cultural institutions work to promote and support inclusion, citizenship, democracy and the public sphere through intercultural dialogue and meetings.

Project leader for the project DIALOG: Meeting Through Words and Literature. The aim of the project is to explore how libraries can facilitate intercultural dialogue, increased participation and integration through the use of literature in language cafés and other conversation-based activities. The project is a collaboration between Reader seeks book (Leser søker bok), the Deichman library branches at Holmlia and Stovner and the Department of Archive, Library and Information at OsloMet.
