The main themes are work and retirement, family and intergenerational relationships, quality of life and mastery and health, health behaviour and care.
So far, three survey waves (2002, 2007 and 2017) have been conducted, including a total of 11,028 individuals. A fourth wave takes place in 2024.
The data collections are carried out by Statistics Norway and consist of telephone interviews, self-administered questionnaires and annually updated register data.
The objectives of the NorLAG are to:
- explore men and women’s life situation in middle age, «third age» and «fourth age»
- gain a better understanding of variations in the ageing process
- provide knowledge needed for developing sustainable welfare policies in an ageing society
