The impact of skills training in social work education

The project is situated within the field of educational research and aims to contribute new knowledge about how skills training in social work education supports the professional and academic development of social workers.

Central to the professional practice of social workers is communication and interaction with children, young people, adults, and older individuals facing various life challenges. This requires students to receive skills training in small groups at several points throughout their studies, under the supervision of an academic staff member with a professional background.

Through this skills training, the goal is to develop the students’ relational and communication skills and to better prepare them for life as professional social workers.

The project aims to explore key aspects of skills training in social work education.
