Dr. Safora Johansens forskning fokuserer på å utnytte teknologi for å forbedre diagnostikk og behandling av kreft, med fokus på kreftomsorg og pasientsikkerhet. Hun tok sin PhD i stråleonkologi ved Universitetet i Oslo i 2010, med hovedvekt på senvirkninger hos brystkreftpasienter. Hun fullførte et postdoktorstipend ved Institutt for kreftforskning, Radiumhospitalet, Oslo universitetssykehus, med støtte fra Kreftforeningen.
Hun har langvarige samarbeid med universiteter og industripartnere i Nord-Amerika og Europa, og har nylig etablert samarbeid med de største offentlige sykehusene i Singapore, hvor hun gjennomfører flere fellesprosjekter. Hennes nåværende fokus omfatter å utnytte teknologi for protokolloptimalisering i kreftdiagnostikk og -behandling, styrke poliklinisk kreftomsorg og fremme pasientaktivering og -engasjement.
