Monika Stapor

About

Monika Stąpor is a PhD candidate in the Department of Early Childhood Education at Oslo Metropolitan University. Her research examines the support and implementation of children’s home languages in early childhood education and care (ECEC), with a particular focus on the perspectives of Polish parents and educational professionals.

She currently works as a university lecturer in pedagogy at Oslo Metropolitan University. Her professional background includes experience as a pedagogical leader in ECEC and as a teacher of Polish language and culture across primary and secondary education, higher education, and heritage language schools in Norway, Poland, and Ukraine.

As part of her academic development, she has been a visiting researcher at the University of Valencia, the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and the University of Iceland. She also collaborates with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the UN Migration Agency, where she develops educational materials to support refugee children’s transition into Norwegian ECEC and school settings.

She holds master’s degrees in Multicultural and International Education from Oslo Metropolitan University and in Polish Philology and Teaching Polish as a Foreign and Second Language from Jagiellonian University. She has also completed further education in multicultural pedagogy, early childhood education, and organization and leadership.

Her academic interests include home language maintenance and support, family language policy, multilingualism in ECEC, language acquisition and second language teaching and learning.
