Forskningen min integrerer forskning på global miljøstyring og kognitiv teori for å studere aktørers motivasjoner, oppfatninger og handling, institusjonell og politisk utforming og effektivitet knyttet til klimaendringer. Jeg er interessert i grensesnittet mellom vitenskap, politikk og samfunn, inkludert bruk av vitenskapelig kunnskap i miljøbeslutningstaking, og ideologiers rolle i å fremme eller forhindre effektive samfunnsmessige tiltak mot klimaendringer. Min nåværende forskning fokuserer på rollen til fremtidig tenkning (forestillingsevne), langsiktig styringskapasitet og utvikling av en styringsagenda for å håndtere risikoen for vippepunkter i jordsystemet.
